1. Enhance the insulation of the pipes and keep the system powered on. 

Pipe insulation is extremely important for heat pump systems. When the ambient temperature reaches the freezing point, the water temperature of the air source water heater drops particularly rapidly. If the hot water pipes and return pipes do not have insulation measures, it will accelerate the consumption of heat. The insulation of the air source water heater pipes mainly adopts two methods: insulation cotton or polyurethane foam. For small pipe diameters, insulation cotton is generally used for insulation, while for large pipes, polyurethane foam is used for insulation. 

Air-source heat pumps for heating transfer heat using water as the intermediate medium. If the temperature is low, and we cut off the power supply to the air-source heat pump when going out, it may cause the water temperature in the pipes to drop sharply. If the temperature is too low, it may damage the equipment and lead to equipment failure. Air-source heat pump equipment all have anti-freezing functions. When the water temperature drops to a certain level, the equipment will automatically start to prevent the equipment and pipes from freezing. Therefore, it is necessary to keep the heat pump system powered on. 

2. When not in use during winter, the water should be drained completely. 

If the air heat pump unit does not operate in winter or needs to be shut down for a long time, such as due to frequent power outages, when the unit is turned off at night, or when the unit is not frequently used in winter, all the water in the unit, pump, and outdoor piping should be drained to prevent the unit from freezing. The power supply should be cut off and a protective cover should be put on. Before running again, please conduct a comprehensive inspection of the system. 

3. Clean the evaporator before use 

The evaporator in an air source unit is similar to the pores of the human body. Its main function is to absorb the heat from the cooled object, thereby lowering the temperature of the object. During the operation of a hot water unit, the surface of the evaporator is easily covered by dust, leaves, etc. from the environment, causing the air flow speed to slow down during the operation of the air source unit. The evaporator's heat absorption effect is poor, resulting in low efficiency of the unit, increased power consumption, and higher failure rate. Therefore, regular cleaning and maintenance of the evaporator is a very important part of the unit's maintenance process. 

4. Regularly clear the debris and snow around the heat pump. 

If the installation location of the heat pump has poor ventilation, it will affect the heating performance of the heat pump. Therefore, it is necessary to clean more frequently. Another point to note is that the fan of the main unit blows out cold air. If there are obstructions in front, it will affect the dispersion of the cold air, which will result in insufficient heat in the air and thus affect the heating performance. If there is too much snow, it should be cleared in time.
